1.12.070 Acquired nonareawide powers.
A. The Borough acquired this nonareawide power by holding an election on the question:
1. Emergency medical services, October 4, 1983.
B. The Borough may, on a nonareawide basis, exercise a power not otherwise prohibited by law if the exercise of the power has been approved at a nonareawide election by a majority of voters living in the Borough but outside all cities in the Borough.
C. Emergency Medical Service.
1. There is established a nonareawide service within the Borough designated “Fairbanks North Star Borough Emergency Medical and Facilities Service” within the area outside of the cities of Fairbanks and North Pole, as shown on the corresponding map in the Clerk’s office. The Fairbanks North Star Borough Emergency Medical Service area shall have emergency medical services and facilities, including ambulance powers.
2. The Borough shall exercise the power to provide emergency medical service as approved by the electorate to promote efficiency and performance of emergency medical services throughout the Borough. (Ord. 86-071 § 2, 1986; Ord. 83-154 § 2, 1983. 2004 Code §§ 1.02.070, 8.01.010, 8.01.020.)
