A. It shall be the duty of every person who is bitten by an animal or the owner of an animal that has bitten a person resulting in a break to the skin to report the incident to animal control.

B. It shall be the duty of any person that observes an animal exhibiting signs of rabies to report the animal to animal control.

C. It shall be the duty of every physician, or other practitioner of medicine, to report to animal control the names and addresses of persons treated for an animal bite that breaks the skin, together with such other information as will be helpful in rabies control.

D. It shall be the duty of every licensed veterinarian to report to animal control their diagnosis of any animal observed by them as a rabies suspect.

E. It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Manager to report any animal exhibiting signs of rabies to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Animal control shall follow the directions of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services in regards to the disposition of the animal. (Ord. 2019-09 § 2, 2019; Ord. 2017-27 § 9, 2017.)
