A. An adoptive owner shall pay to the animal shelter an adoption fee.

B. The Animal Control Manager may waive adoption fees for nonprofit organizations when such organizations take animals in order to attempt to place them for adoption. Any such waiver of fees shall be pursuant to agreement with the organization providing such conditions as the Animal Control Manager and the organization shall agree upon that will tend to protect the health and welfare of the animal population.

C. The Animal Control Manager may waive a portion of the adoption fee for animals with chronic medical conditions or terminal illnesses as determined by a licensed veterinarian.

D. The Mayor may waive a portion of the adoption fee for animals when there is insufficient space for those animals at the animal shelter. (Ord. 2017-27 § 6, 2017.)
