A. Road names shall conform to Chapters 17.36 and 17.40 FNSBC.

B. Road and subdivision names shall not duplicate existing road or subdivision names in spelling or sound such that they may be confused with existing names.

C. An existing road name shall be continued when the new road extends the alignment of an existing road.

D. Subdivision roads shall be named and signs shall be provided and erected by the applicant.

1. Stop signs shall be provided at all local 2, collector and arterial road intersections within the confines of the subdivision.

2. The applicant shall be responsible for any and all road signs required by the new improvements. The applicant shall follow the Alaska Traffic Manual prepared by the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices prepared by the U.S. Department of Transportation, or authorities having jurisdiction for design of traffic control signs.

3. All signs and sign support columns shall be of metal construction and conform to the state of Alaska DOT/PF Standard Specifications for Highway Construction or other standards adopted by the Platting Board.

4. If approved with the preliminary plat, an applicant may be permitted to use alternate sign and support material for artistic or aesthetic reasons if the same degree of permanence and visibility can be achieved. (Ord. 2005-33 § 16, 2006; Ord. 2005-10 § 2, 2005. 2004 Code § 17.60.190.)
